I've been told I have the best snickerdoodles ever. They're my favorite thing to make and also my go to!

I always love to try new recipes, but if I need something fast and don't have time to go and get all the ingredients, these snickerdoodles are my go to. It may seem as though pretty much any other cookie would be easier to make, but I've been making these cookies for years. At this point I don't even need the recipe. Sure, the classic chocolate chip cookie may be easier and faster, but I have yet to come across someone who does not like snickerdoodles. They're always a hit!
At this point I don't even need the recipe.
Now, I can't lie. I did not make this recipe up. It's my baby grandma's recipe. (she's my very short great-grandma that my sisters and I call baby grandma). So, I really have to thank her for the recipe and it's success. (Though, I have tweaked a few aspects of the recipe).

I don't exactly remember how I came to making these cookies so often, I just remember everyone loving them! Whether it be a bake sale, thank-you cookies, or just baking for fun, these are easy and fun to make. Whenever I bake these with my friends it goes by much quicker; making balls of cookie dough and dunking them in cinnamon and sugar can get quite tedious when you're just by yourself, especially when there's four dozen! When making these cookies, I encourage you to do it with someone you like. It makes cleaning up not seem like a chore, the baking goes by quicker, and you have just so much more fun!

I really hope that you enjoy making and eating these cookies as much as I do! I never gave this recipe out to anyone because I wanted to be the only one able to make cookies as good as these! Yet here I am, posting it on my blog. These cookies have brought me so much joy to not only make, but also to watch others eat! I, of course, love to eat them too. (The dough is pretty spectacular also). So the next time you need to bake something last minute or for people you love, these cookies are the way to go! Without further ado, the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
mixed cinnamon and sugar

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
2. Cream butter and sugar together. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. (add in a tsp or so of cinnamon if you want too! :)
4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients by adding about 1/2 cup at a time.
5. Chill dough for 1-2 hours.
6. Shape dough into balls, roll in the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
7. Bake for about 10 minutes.
Makes 48 cookies.
If you want extra gooey cookies, take them out a minute before they look done! (They will still bake a little even when you take them out of the oven because the pan will be so hot). You can freeze them for months if you want, or leave them in your cookie jar to eat right then. Tip: after about a day or two, the cookies will start to harden. If you leave a slice of bread in the container with them, they will soften right up! Please enjoy these cookies as much as I have! Eat with friends, family, or ice cream :)
